About Saif Mahmood
Based in London, Dr Saif Mahmood is an international lawyer and public intellectual whose work spans law, scholarship and literature. He advises corporations, financial institutions, family offices and private clients on complex cross-border disputes, international commercial transactions and strategic legal matters across India, England and the UAE. With a practice shaped by three jurisdictions and decades of experience, he brings together advocacy, commercial judgment and comparative legal insight to advise on matters where legal complexity, strategic objectives and international interests converge.
Qualified across three jurisdictions, he is an Advocate of the Supreme Court of India, admitted as a Solicitor of England & Wales (non-practising), and appears as Counsel before the DIFC and ADGM Courts of the United Arab Emirates. His practice combines advocacy, arbitration and sophisticated transactional advice –an uncommon breadth that enables him to guide clients through matters where legal complexity and commercial judgment are inseparable.
Dr Mahmood holds a doctorate in law specialising in comparative legal systems and a United Nations certification in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR). He has served as a Visiting Scholar in Law at the University of Oxford and is a Visiting Fellow in Law at Amity University, India’s largest private university. His legal scholarship has been cited by the Supreme Court of India, an exceptional recognition for a practising lawyer.
He advises on international corporate and commercial transactions, cross-border and domestic investments, infrastructure, real estate and hospitality, private wealth, succession planning, and complex commercial disputes, with particular experience across the UK-India-UAE corridor.
Technology and innovation are significant areas of his practice. He works closely with founders, investors, venture funds, family offices and technology businesses on market entry, investment structures, regulatory strategy and cross-border commercial growth, particularly across the UK-India-UAE corridor. He also serves as an Advisor to Tech India Advocates (UK), contributing to collaboration between entrepreneurs, investors and policymakers across these jurisdictions.
Beyond the law, Dr Mahmood is an internationally recognised author and public speaker, regarded as one of South Asia’s foremost contemporary voices on Urdu literature and cultural heritage. His writings, talks and cultural commentary have established him as a sought-after speaker at leading literature festivals, universities and cultural institutions around the world.
His career reflects a rare convergence of international legal practice, scholarship and the humanities. Equally at home advising on complex commercial matters, appearing before courts and tribunals, or engaging with questions of literature and culture, he brings intellectual rigour, strategic judgment and a distinctly international perspective to every engagement.
